| I am trying to get information about my greatgrandfather, James McElgunn, his wife Susan Smith and the children, Patrick, James, John, Mary, Jane, Catherine and Margaret. My grandmother was Catherine born April 15, 1861. I have a birth certificate for Margaret born in 1866. James and Susan show Killyfole as their residence. The family was Roman Catholic, I believe. | My "roots" go from Philadelphia/Coatbridge, Scotland/ "Ireland".
JAMES GUNN was born in Ireland circa mid 1830's.
His parents were OWEN GUNN and MARY KELLY. They were probably RC (Roman
Catholic)
My "brickwall" is OWEN GUNN. There are many GUNNS..... at one time I
thought that it was a rare name.
The name OWEN GUNN appears in three different "TOWNLANDS" in two sources of
data but the same townlands.
GRIFFITHS VALUATION (circa 1860) and the FLAXGROWERS LIST (circa 1790).
They appear as follows:
